We love our lives

Here is an update how life is progressing since we have been away from our moms.
After Christmas we discovered that our can openers have to go to something they call „work“ every day. Apparently they earn „money“ which seems to pay for our taste for good food, toys and all. Oh well, we know how to spend our time well until they get home again. Lots of time is spent sleeping, but a lot of time is spent playing.

Mr. Nice has all kinds of ideas to keep us occupied. The newest invention, though not all done yet, is a toy that makes us work for our treats. We are not sure, why we should work for treats since it is much easier to eat right out of their hands? Could someone enlighten us please?

The food is great and they give us lots of varieties. We have grown a lot since we got here. Last week Benny weighed 2.3 kg and Leoni weighed 2.1 kg. Leoni turned 4 months on Jan. 15 and Benny turned 4 months on Jan. 29. Time seems to fly when you are with people who love you.

Here is a collection of pictures of us over the last few weeks.

We hope you enjoyed our update.

Taking it easy …

Hello my dear readers,
our kitties are adjusting well to their new home. No wonder, who wouldn’t with all all this LOVE and attention they are getting.

Leoni is 4 months old today and developing quite nicely. Benny is a typical male cat. He demands his cuddle sessions and has to be reminded that he is not the only cat in the household. He loves his step-sister and would not be without her for a minute and she feels the same way about Benny.

A new scratch post had to be purchased though. Stella’s small one just was not enough for two active kittens. They mind quite well and know the meaning of „no“. Benny is more stubborn than Leoni though.

Anyhow, though they cannot replace Ms. Stella, they are the greatest little „souls“ and are filling the house with their lively spirits.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Our can openers have adjusted quite well to us. We get the foods we like, cat milk and other goodies. Seems like we hit the jackpot in this house. There are lots of toys around from Stella and we think she would love to see us play with it, which we do quite a lot. Our can openers don’t mind it. Actually, they are training quite well. When we cry, they jump. *bg*
The other day they put up a tree, a manger and other stuff. We were told it is Christmas and that they did not want us to climb the tree. Well, why should we? The blanket underneath is much more interesting and comfortable.

It is getting a bit crowded when we try to rest together and Mr. and Mrs. Nice need to think of a solution.

Anyhow – all in all it is nice here. We read through Stella’s writings and she must’ve liked it very much. Mr. & Mrs. Nice are saying Stella is watching us from across the rainbow now and is happy that we are living here now to wipe away a little of the sadness that has been present in the house after she had to leave so suddenly.
Your friends,
Benny & Leoni

It’s the little things that provide joy …

… and some may say it would not be right time for them or too early yet, but we dared it.

In between lots of tears for Stella (and still now) we decided to fill the emptyness of the house.

Benny and Leoni moved in. They are keeping us and themselves busy, but haven’t gotten into too much trouble so far. They were 11 and 12 weeks old when we got them a little less than two weeks ago. To think that they will be big cats in a few months is hard to believe at the moment, but we are enjoying the kitten stage for now. They are already sharing their love with their can openers and decided living here in Mr. and Mrs. Nice’s house without their moms is not bad after all. Benny and Leoni are stepbrother/sister and are two British shorthair cats. They like each other a lot and are enjoyable companions.

A little comment on the side – We are wondering if your Christmas tree will look like Simon’s this year?

footprints in our lives

We had to make the sad decision on Dec. 2 to relieve our wonderful cat Stella of the suffering she has endured during the last days.

While sadness covers our heart, we remember all the wonderful times we had together with Stella in the 3,5 years together.

Small in size, but big in character she left a mark in our lives which will always be alive.

We would have loved to spend many more years with her, but sometimes we are only allowed to share for a short time, nevertheless much more intense.

We love and miss you, Stella!
Your faithful servants,

Moments in her life

New Toy

It is quite difficult to amuse me. Usually it turns into an embarrassing entertainment session of behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Nice when they try to point my attention towards something new.
However – Mr. Nice hit the jackpot this time! He bought a tunnel for me. Is that cool or what?

The cat is back

Mrs. Nice been kind of lazy writing my stories last year as you can see. So – I have got on her case about that and she rolled her eyes at me. I know that look, let me tell ya‘!

Here I am – I WON 🙂

Here is a quick run down on last year!

During the summer my job was to be part of the garden design. I do this job really well and chase every other cat out of my garden.

Looking good, aren't I?

Pretty soon the Misses won’t have to buy flowers anymore. I’m the most beautiful flower in her garden anyhow.

It got bit cooler during autumn, so you could find me upstairs with my bud Shrek on the couch.

Christmas came along and that always means that I don’t get to go outdoors a lot anymore. It is too cold and they are afraid that I may fall into the neighbor’s pond when I climb around the neighbor’s patio. I discovered television, people! What a deal!

Nature shows are cool!

Check this out!

A little culture never hurts, does it?

These past weeks we’ve had lots of snow. I am SICK of it, because my paws freeze. They haven’t bought any shoes for me yet. YET – I say!

I had to try it though… I DO NOT LIKE SNOW

When the sun is out it isn’t too bad and the patio stones are warmed by the sun.

During the winter though I spend most of my time begging to go outdoors. Just what’s cat to do?

Ok, my cat sisters and brothers … I see ya‘ around. Hopefully, it will not take Mrs. Nice another year before she types my stories.

Yours truly,
Stella-The-Cat

Been a while .. and now it is winter time

Dear friends,

I have been neglecting you so much.  Now it is winter and just a few days before Christmas. I will take the opportunity of our first snow of the season to drop a few lines.

Summer was not so great. It all started nicely in the spring, but summer time was not like last year where we were spoiled with lots of sun.

I have enjoyed our garden anyhow. I just picked the sunny days to be outdoors.

Winter is a different story. I don’t like to have wet paws. I just run outdoors, looking for my catwalk which is snowed in as well and find my way back home soon.

Christmas is right before us. I am wishing all of you a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and that all your wishes may come true. Most of all I hope that health and happiness will be your companions throughout the year.

Happy Birthday to me!

Since nobody knows my birthday, Mr. and Mrs. Nice said we will celebrate May 19th – which is the day I arrived at their house – as my official birthday.

They put a bow on me and of course a picture was taken.

Other than that there was not much to write about this winter. Mr. and Mrs. Nice were working a lot and I spent a lot of time saving my energy for spring. In other words, I slept a lot and avoided cold weather. 🙂 Since spring came around I have been busy with Mrs. and Mr. Nice in the garden. They have been doing lots of work in their garden and haven’t had time to help me with my blog. My function was to be the undergardener and have an overview of everything they did in the garden. I must say I approve of everything. It turned out really nice and is a wonderful place for me to relax.

I had another bad week. The first two days went well and then I had trouble chewing again. Mr. Nice made an appointment with the veterinarian on Thursday and dropped me off at 11 in the morning. Around 5 pm he picked me up again. My teeth were cleaned and another tooth had to be pulled. After a drowsy day and slow night (without any food) I am luckily back to my old self as you can see in the pictures above which were taken today by Mrs. Nice.
I am looking forward to a great week with my favorite two people. They are both off from work all week. How’s that for a week of being spoiled, cuddled and being able to go outdoors anytime I like?
Have a great week!
